Other Ways To Get Involved
Cake Productions has big plans! In the days since the founding of our company, our fiscal sponsor, Fractured Atlas, has been benevolent and extremely helpful, guiding us through early growing pains and allowing us to receive tax-deductible donations immediately upon developing our company mission statement. However, by our two-year anniversary, April 2011, our goal is to become our own 501(c)(3). And that’s where you come in!
In the coming months, we’ll be looking to assemble a board that believes in what Cake Productions aims to do for the off-off-Broadway theatre scene. Ideally this board will provide critical financial and practical support to ensure that Cake Productions continues to thrive, bringing accessible and affordable theatre to first-time and seasoned theatregoers alike! In conjunction with that, our foremost goal, Cake’s plans include expanding our educational outreach efforts in several ways.
First off, we’ll be offering a unique, all-around college-prep workshop to students who cannot afford high-priced audition seminars or tutors. By this method we look to give young artists the practical skills and knowledge they need to approach the beginning of their theatre education. Additionally, after our success this season hosting adult students from the Mildred Elley School, and high-school students from the Bronx and New Jersey, we see this next year as a time to seek out student bodies who are rarely aware of or cannot afford live theatrical performances; we hope that by offering steeply discounted or free tickets to these students, we may further our goal of making stage plays as accessible as movies to a younger generation.
If you believe that you or someone you know would be a good fit for our board, and would like to help us expand and thrive as we look toward the future, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We have big plans, but we’ll need some steadying forces at our foundation as we continue to “make the cake”!
